Pizza isn't modern. Some form of flat-bread with a toping has been eaten since the Ancient Greeks(and probably before). The Pizza as we know it(a variation of the Pizza Margareta) was created in the 1850s in Naples. Pizza has been in United States since the 1880s. The Pizza the way we know is New York Style and the Place that is most responsible for creating that variation of the Pizza Margareta was Lombardi's in New York, here is their website: www.firstpizza.com/-Josh

This weeks Stitch Nazi of the Week award goes to Lil Beaver for his impression of the 90th and his being on the Event Staff of D-Day Conneaut.
Charlies impression was gone over by John Hatfield and his final critique was one word. WOW. The kid was even eating K-Rations for lunch and wandering around at night with a repro flash light.
As overall event Commander Col Mike Felmlee made Charlie his body guard and command runner so Charlie was everywhere at once. I swear if we'd been clocking him he had to put on over 20 miles a day running 100 meter dashes.
Charlie also made his first beach assault as a mascot of the US Navy who had him in the conning tower of the landing craft as they tried to make the grunts throw up in the hold.
Like John Hatfield I think Charlie can honestly say he's a member of Able Co. 5th Rangers, HQ 5th Rangers, Chris's 90th Infantry Group and the 83rd Infantry as all the Co's were highly impressed with his knowledge, decorum and stamina under stress.
Charlie, you're one hell of a young man and your parents should be very proud of you. They've done a fantastic job of raising you.

Lil Beav
A recommendation from me might get you laundry detail at a prison but all the college professors that know me would black list anyone I recommended. With the exception of the Winegars down at Duke but I did give Debbie a couple of wedgies when we were growing up, it’s why she married Steve and not me.

Lil Beav
After dinner my leg was hurting so bad I grabbed a ride on the 90th Jeep and went to mom’s house for a hot shower and fell asleep as we were talking. I crashed on her living room floor and woke up feeling like a new man. The thing is the hip felt fine all weekend but the muscles and heals were killing me at the end of Saturday.
James Dean said, “Die young and leave a good looking corpse,” the way my hip usually feels I wish I’d taken his advice. Though I think the bike riding is really taking the hitch out of my giddyup. I was on my feet all day Saturday and with the exception of breakfast and dinner, I was walking all day.

This week’s award had some strong competition. I’m giving it to Thor for his Thionville BAR gunner photo essay.
Finster was a close second but Thor’s photography was perfect. I’m sure he’ll agree the object is to promote the good doings of younger reenactors with the hope of marrying off Kat to a reenactor who can afford her. By the time Beav, Lil Beav, Scruffy, and Thor graduate from college, Kat is going to be 18 and by the time she graduates, they’ll be well established in their careers. I figure these kids are going to be shotgun owners and can more then adequately protect Finster’s granddaughters when the nurses are giving him sponge baths at the Old Soldiers Home.
A serious honorable mention goes to Scruffy, my little Jack Russell Terrier for introducing us to the Gold mine impression done in Germany. They had a serious museum quality display.

This week is both easy and hard so I’m taking the easy route and giving it to three individuals for three different categories.
The first goes to Friscan for his latest helmet-reconditioning project. His use of photography and narration is always excellent. The only problem is I still can’t get a mental image of him in an M-1 helmet.
The second award goes to Greaser for spotting the obvious and softly pointing out an e-bay sale gone wacky. I think most of us saw the shrapnel thread on the big board.
The third goes to someone who isn’t even a forum member on either board. I’m talking about Kat who drug Finster to the range and tried her best to talk him into letting her fire the entire arsenal. For a crumb snatching ankle biter she isn’t bad to have around, and doesn’t take guff off anyone…you guys should see her put me in my place. Finster, I hope you plan on going to the Old Soldiers Home because if she’s choosing the old folks home you’re…it ain’t gonna be good.

This week the Stitch Jedi of the week goes to Thor Bob for his furlough impression presentation. I can’t say enough good and he couldn’t do anything to improve the photo shoot. Just an outstanding presentation.

This weeks award goes to Charlie, Josh and Tyler for the new 90th site. Although under construction the thought that is going into it is exellent. So Beaver, Thor, and Lil Beav; well done. Over the summer Josh, Tyler and myself have banded together to form TOLHG (Tough Ombres Living History Group) This weekend I have been working on our site what do you think? 90thlhg.tk/Lil Beav Unit Historian Jim

This week I’ve got to go with Jimmy Dunigan and his 3rd Herd helmet find. His research into the units located at the find site was well thought out and even better presented. He’s raised the bar to the point where the other side has padding and it’s now a field event as opposed to track, at this rate to compete, we’re going to have to pole vault.

This week’s award goes to Thor. Simply put he quoted John Gawne and credited his primary source not only saving himself from plagiarism charges or copy write law but also advertising for a credible author who himself credits his contributors and primary sources. I’m sure everyone is aware I love a good novel and a good research book. I’m sure we all do, but what separates a Novel from other books is with literary license authors can avoid copy write infringement and primary source crediting while still getting across a point. It’s why I harp on you kids to really work on your threads before you throw it before the wolves. Thor diffused a situation by using “” marks in a post that was questioned. He just had too many word options at his disposal and chose the best word possible, which was sniper. Way to go Thor. John himself took the time to convert the history of the 8th Infantry Division and post it on Militaria dot com. He did it legally and with permission and now, the book is available to researchers by just surfing into his web page. Granted it isn’t going to be everyone’s choice as Primary Source if they’re doing the 90th but I believe we all agree that comparative research has its place. With the 8th being at Hürtgen with the 90th and 83rd it just makes sense to grab all the free books you can. We discussed integration a while back on the big board and Martin posted a picture off the web of a very dark member of the 8th ID. I was able to name the individual and identify his deeds due to having read the book for free in our Company day room. Now because of John you guys can download a free book with his permission and him doing all the work. He did it because he wants you to read about his father, I want you to read it because you’ll gain tons of questions through comparative research. Look for the BIG GREEN letters. militaria.com/8th/8thid.htmlJim
