Josh
Last time I did a flight simulator I took out an aircraft carrier. Unfortunatly it was during take off and a Navy simulator. To say the least the recruiter wasn't happy when I yelled Go Army, Beat Navy.

I am still here. I've gotten some head way on my Impression. I have gotten all most all the parts I'll need to build my M1 and next week I should get a Half Tent, stakes, poles, and mess tin with utensils. So I should be done by mid September, hopefully**.

<<<In my Charles Emerson Winchester the third voice>>> This weeks Stitch Jedi award goes to Jimmy Dunigan…the third. Jimmy gets it because of his 509th Composite Group photo essay and his willingness to try his damnedest. One thing I really like about Jimmy is he goes to the veterans associations and photographic documentation for ALL his impressions and when he finds someone doing something noticeably wrong doesn’t bash their entire impression but shows them how to improve it for next time. It’s far too easy to point out what’s wrong with an impression but Jimmy goes out of his way to show why, and what it would take to perfect the impression, often with online documentation that others can use in the future. With Jimmy’s presentation he climbs inside the garments and photographs the labels and even goes so far as to use vintage clothes hangers. I thought that was an excellent touch. ww2reenactors.proboards35.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=photo&thread=20151&page=1Jimmy, way to blow them out of the woods. Jim

I have to say its an honor and a very appreciated compliment. Especially coming from you Jim one of the BIG forums most respected members. I have to say this is at the very least not my best effort. My 30th Infantry impression is still being refined. I hope to have one day probably a VERY authentic version of those dogfaces and the quest continues and will until I'm happy. Once that happens nothing will be further done. The impression will be set, complete and unique to me. One thing to remember lads and one I'm sure Jim will agree with me on is that you'll probably never be perfectly happy with your impression. Its common, most refine it and refine it until they hone it to a fine point. However, there is always something new and small that you might find through your research and would like to add. However, myself and Jim will be the very first to tell you don't get caught in WWII living history's greatest traps.... justifying it just to wear it for its "cool" factor. It may perhaps be unique to the unit your portraying but, too much can make you too gaudy. In this hobby, less is usually more. Plus the commonality of the item within the unit has and must be taken into account. My 509th Composite Group impression is coming along but, it'll be a while before its refined to where I'll be happy. Perhaps one day though. Thanks again... Very Respectfully, FRISCAN PS... And Yes, I have a B-29... ;D Courtesy of the Commemorative Air Force!

You certainly deserve it Jim. Your one of the biggest stitch nazi's I have ever met. As for me I am coming along with my Impression just need some personal items, a 40's style wallet, wool blanket, a WWII type helmet liner, and WWII Chin straps. Just small stuff so I am almost there!!!!! ~sgttom

My theory is a Stitch Nazi say's "that's wrong" and walks away. A Stitch Jedi documents what's right using written references, pictorial validation including dates, locations, and identification of those present. It's too darned easy to say something is wrong but to authenticate an impression is just as easy and more constructive. Too many people are trying to tear down an impression with out complimenting the effort given what was right. Granted there are instances where something is just so obviously wrong that you can’t show how an M-16A1 rifle wasn’t used at Iwo Jima but that is a severe extreme.
