I'm giving the this weeks Stitch Jedi of the Week to Josh for his photographic essay and documentation of his FSSF impression. Not only has he shown he has the gear needed but documented gear he's left back at Battalion Trains during a recon patrol.
Josh has shown that a PIR impression is Infantry and with a little modification can twist to Mountain Infantry.
He's also dug in his heals and provided chapter and verse authentication of every aspect of the impression when asked.

Lil Beav
You got it for your "Seves Island 1944" documentation last week. I've just started a stand-alone thread announcing the awards in a more formal manner.
Wally Cleaver and Friscan are officially past recipients and I’m waiting for Beaver Cleaver to really blow me away. And where the hell is that little Jack Russell Terrier, probably laying out on the beach in Bremerhaven waiting for bikini tops to slip off.

Charlie
The humor came thru loud and clear.
Tommy
Use Charlie and Josh's threads as a template. Make sure you have period photos easily found on the web or scan you primary material and put it in a photo bucket or flicker account. Have at least three photos for documenting every aspect of your impression for the specific time-periods. The only acceptable alternative is to do an individual specific impression but then you need one picture that can be identified to the individual, name, rank and hopefully SN as well as date and location.
Also, members using slow speed internet access don’t like the pictures posted and prefer links. Don’t give them bandwidth to complain about and you’ve made their viewing enjoyable.
Jonathan (2ndMarDiv) just PM’d new standards for the In-depth Impression Thread standards. They’re easily achieved and call for front, back and both sides to show all equipment and its placement. It’s easy to achieve and I expect you guys to not only meet but also beat those standards. I want to see the action photos and proper weapons handling along with standing at attention for the walk around photos.
Another big hint is your background. Keep your moms mini van and ADT home security signs out of the picture. Avoid modern decks, plastic mailboxes, modern sprinklers, privacy fencing, and the McDonalds next-door…unless it is the one that was around during WWII. If your house has aluminum siding, and your neighbor’s house is ghetto, ask to use their property. And yes, my garage was built for a Model T. If possible, have the pictures taken in the woods and during the right season, as European and especially Asiatic architecture is different then America.
And for the love of god use this forum to sample and edit your pictures before allowing the big forum to chew it to pieces. Don’t hesitate to update and improve the pictures. Use MS Word or a spell check and grammar-checking program to keep yourself from being embarrassed. Anticipate the usual questions and have pre-typed answers saved in your documents file.
And most of all remember forums are not your final exam but a study group to constantly improve your impression, so editing your posts should be done. Just credit those whose posts have contributed to the impression improvement.

Thanks for the advice. I got it all planned out ;D I always use spell-check people who spell bad and don't use it look really immature in my opinion. I am going to have to research the battles a lot more so I can get a good history lesson down like Charlie. I hope to do an Anzio Impression or maybe early Southern France. Man! I just remembered I don't have a camera to take the pictures with. And I probably won't be seeing any relatives that have one at the time when my Impression will be finished. You guys will have to wait till Christmas or later.

Tommy
Take your time with the project to get it as right as possible and don’t worry about time as this isn’t school and we can’t give each other detention. I’m also betting you’ll figure out the camera situation by the end of the day.

Your right about the camera. Charlie suggested I get a disposable one. I think I'll do that.

Tommy I picked up an AGFA on sale for about $30 and have been quite pleased. With disposables going for around $15 to $20 plus development, I'd shop around until September and see what you come up with. I doubt the CL-18 is still available but this should give you an idea of what I'm talking about. www.steves-digicams.com/cl18.htmlOne nice thing about the impression photo shoots is it gives you a new hobby to learn. This weeks Stitch Jedi Award goes to Youth 90th for his work on The Chambois Impression Tester. Granted it’s a work in progress but as the Jack Russell Terrier has been nude sun bathing in Bremerhaven and Wally and The Beaver have been doing chores for Ward and June this week there really has been no competition. With that said, Lil Beav has been using his scanner, photo manipulation programs, online photo hosting, and typing his fingers to the bone. Way to go Lil Beav. well thanks Jim. I know I had no competition but still. Also, my impression is not so much a "tester" but more of a "testing the water" On August 20 it will go up on the big board.

Josh
I'm sitting 100 yards from Lake Erie and just down the street is a beach with a local pool so I'm not all that jealous during the summer. Now had you posted the same thing in winter when I’m freezing my rump off we’d have issues.
Now did you do any WWII touring while you were there?
