Well most of the 90th winter pics from the 90th history book published by the 90th is that the guys wore the ancle boots with no gaiters and the all rubber overshoe. Also most guys didnt bother with webbing just the uniform the belt with ammo, first aid and canteen,of course they had there weapon. The uniform is a bit mixed up to what i can see the Tanker kacket is quite popular and the M43 on the outside with more than lightly M41's and M43 liners and anything they could get there hands on to keep them warm!!!I'll post a pic of the 90th book it was published in 1946.

I don't know much about the 90th ID, but the case may be the same. In the 29th ID the unit till the bulge was wearing mostly service shoes with gaiters because the Division commander ran the unit by the book. Another example of this in the 29th is that you had to wear the helmet chinstrap as a chinstrap not around the back of the helmet, of course most men didn't follow this but if you were caught by a ranking officer you could have pay deducted. But how the 29th ID orders have anything to do with the 90th ID maybe the 90th ID CO was by the book to.
