i don't think he can join the 103d. His location thing says Indiana. Plus his profile says he's 13 years old.

So why do you do US impressions. US backgorund? Or did your grandfather fight my grandfather in the battle of the bulge.

So why do you do US impressions. US backgorund? Or did your grandfather fight my grandfather in the battle of the bulge. Ok, we get a bit off-topic, but I want to explain. I don´t or didn´t have any ancestors in the US and my grandparents didn´t fought against american soldiers. I reenact an american GI, because my hole life is characterized by the American Lifestyle (Cola, Jeans, McDonalds, education etc.) I want to honour the men, who fought and died for the freedom of all of us and that we can live in the todays world we know. Moreover it´s easier to rennact a n US GI or a british soldier than a German Landser over here in Germany. And here are too many who reenact a German Landser, too I hope, you understand me. Martin

I lol'ed when you decribed american life. What is German life like? Imagine McDonalds with high powered German Beer sold over the counter. I was stationed in Mainz and we had KFC and McDonalds. Now for their local fair when I was in Idar Oberstein they'd take a pork or steak fillet about the size of Muhamed Ali's fist and cook it over an open fire, you could cut it with a spoon, and they'd mix Beer and rasberry brandy. After having Bratwurst on brochen at a Snell Imbus I can tell you Johnsonville Brats are second rate compared to what they have. They've also got museums to die for, the Guttenburg Museum, Mainz Am Dome, the Weisbaden weapons museum... Three things recieved no damage in Mainz, Mainz Am Dome, the train station and the local -------------------- house and the Army Air Corp had a saying, "save one for Mainz" and any un expended ammo would be dropped on the city so as not to land in England with it. Martin What area are you in? Remember when I was there the wall was still up. Jim

McDonald, Jeans and Cola were only some excamples for that was comming over and it´s still indicator for USA Ok, what´s typically for Germany? Hard to explain, because of the Americanisation Let´s go. Curry Wurst with Pommes Red/White (Ketchup + Mayonnaise) Wiener Schnitzel Potatos BMW, Porsche, Opel, Mercedes Old Towns/Cities (Cologne) 10 - 13 years pupils have to go school and some do their Abitur ( = higher education entrance qualification) lots of laws and I think some more... @ barrelhunter: I´m from Arnsberg, near Dortmund in West Germany. I hope, this helps you. Yes, the Wall is still down, but some people wish it back (joke!!!) But this is not my introduction!

You forgot Jager Schnitzel, Cordon Blue...real Cordon Blue with the ham and cheese actually stuffed into the chicken. The Rose Montag festival (like our Mardi Gra). And the bratwurst is thicker then an entrenching tool handle.
Amberg, do bis Bavarian. I wasn't stationed at Pond Barracks but I've visited it.
I was surprised with the wall falling Germany didn't bankrupt itself with the unemployment and up grading East German factories.
We Americans can't really appreciate Germany untill we visit. Buildings that are 400 years old still being used on a daily basis is not normal over here.
