Right it says in most place that they were used after D-Day and comin up to christmas 1944 well i know for a fact that my great uncle wore them in training in 1943 and he used that type of boot for the rest of the war even though the rest of the division wore the gaiters and the boots. They were also tested on D-day

The m43 boot was tested in Italy by 3rd division along with components of the m43 uniformand They used these boots years ago I had photos in Normandy of troops with them but Mt books are god knows where. Airborne troops were issued them before market Garden in about august when they were in rest areas. m43 boots saw action in ww2 Korea and Vietnam (Early)

M43 boot prototypes were tested in North Africa. They didn't first see significant use by the 36th ID in Salerno in the Mederterean. In the Northwest France they didn't see signican't use till July or August of 1944. The 101st and 82nd airborne did't get them till after D-Day, First Airborne taskforce got them just before the jump into Southern France, finnally the 17th airborne had them throughout thier stint in combat.

sorry about the double post. I meant to say they didn't see significant use untill the 36th and 3rd ID used them in salerno.
