The sewing of bandoleers in the bottoms of 42's was done almost only by the First Airborne Task Force (see book by Michael De Trez)

My friend Tim did it before jumping into D-Day. He also stuffed his trouser legs full of cigarettes. He didn't jump into Holland, he was the liason from the 101st to the Irish Guards Armored and led them through the checkpoints.. Neat guy. I've got hbt pants with added pockets too. Lots of USN uniforms with hidden pockets. Fins.

Talking about HBTs with pockets added, my great grandfather who was a tech 4 during WW2 and was part of a combat engineer battalion attached to the 1stID, in the pics of him and his buddies just prior to D-Day show him wearing one piece coveralls with the pockets from the 2 piece HBT suit pants attached to the legs of the coveralls and oddly enough he is also wearing jump boots.

cool, I found a photo of a paratrooper, and you can see the stitching on the outside, where the pockets were sowen in. I am thinking about putting a pocket or two in my M-41.
