Nice photos! I noticed the guy with the Half Cartridge belt over his shoulder. Is that accurate?

Nice photos! I noticed the guy with the Half Cartridge belt over his shoulder. Is that accurate? Thats me. No I have no pictures, but its a practical thing that I'm sure was done. I don't carry bandoleers, I've lost one too many clips that way, with this its just as easy to get out and safer.

So enlighten me... how is that being a FARB to do something that is A - Pratical and B - Totally plausible? I know you didn't say it, but you sure did imply it.
Stitch Nazism is what is wrong with this hobby and the Internet (and boards like this) breed it.

whoa
josh... jim... let's make sure we play nice here!
first off, josh, with all due respect, yes, i know it must have been done in some fashion, but bandoliers are about 100 times more common and easier to get into. not to mention the soldiers were usually issued whole bando's at a time... would you actually take the time to unload a bandoleer and put it all back into your cartridge belt? maybe you would, but you'd probably be the exception to the norm.
personally, josh, i'd get a GP bag or cave and get some bandoliers that will keep your ammo till you need it. i've never had a problem losing clips from mine. then again, you may be more active than i usually was, haha.
jim, sarcasm is easier to perceive here even if it's not intended, don't let it look like you're trying to bait the guy...
just my two cents...

Two Stripes Consider for a moment that we have two vendors who post regularly who I'd call Stitch Nazis, those being Finster and Old Paratrooper. Friscan and Beaver are also fairly anal retentive when it comes to authenticity. Do you really believe high authenticity standards are detrimental to the hobby? As for me, I see your contraption as being one more thing to hang on branches, bruise my ribs, and get an elbow stuck in. That isn't being a Stitch Nazi but an NCO in real life. Granted it’s plausible however plausible fills cemeteries. Keep in mind when worn correctly the cartridge belt has six additional anchoring points to keep it from beating the hell out of you. Also during rest breaks, you’re supposed to load clips and magazines as well as poop and change socks. Jim

My problem is, for many people its become more about "reenacting" and less about the history. You can become more obsessed with having EXACTLY the right tread on your boot and loose site of the REAL reason why we are spending all of our time and money.
What I define as a "stitch nazi" is someone who cares more about having a seamless kit as opposed to preserving the history. I am not at all saying that a good kit is not important, its something everyone in the hobby should aspire to have. I probably should have clarified myself. What I'm saying is someone should not be blackballed and bashed for having small flaws or an incomplete kit, so long as they are actively working to correct the problems. It is always a work in progress and I for one can never see myself saying my kit is "done" because it can always be better. (I have another rant about the few truly late war units being criticized because we don't wear M41s and Leggings like everyone else, but thats for another thread)
I do understand I'm the exception, thats half the reason I do it! I like being the nail that sticks out... plus IMO its really handy and I prefer it. Honestly I really only use it for night patrols or private battles like the one I was at when the pictures in question were taken. I do plan on getting a Three Snap gas-mask bag as soon as I find one thats not blown out. Until then, I'm wearing it.

geeez...
jim, i have to say, i am truly honored! to be both classified as anal about authenticity, as well as being elevated to FRISCAN's level of detail... ;D i am not worthy, haha seriously, thanks for what i'll consider a compliment!
josh, i hear ya man, i know some stuff can be hard to get a hold of when you want it. and i really don't have as much of an issue with it when it's at a private event. just try to go with the norm at displays and the like... and i know you do, i have to say the photos i got of you at last year's WWII weekend, holding your BAR and joking around with the guys, were some of the most authentic-looking photos i got that weekend. so keep up the good work.
and to get back on topic... looks like it was a fun event, wish i coulda been there...

Beaver
It was meant as a compliment, and I'm hoping Williams recognizes I see the same traits in him. I looked at his photobucket and liked what I saw, the kids just got to accept he's a Stitch Nazi, maybe if we take a new name...Stitch Jedi. Yeah, Johnbi-Wan Kenobi and Elija Windu...C3P0 Finster. We'll fight over who gets Padmé Amidala.

Jim On reflection Tyler is now Beaver, Matt is Wally and Charlie is Little Beaver. Sorry but Charlie looks way to much like Hollywood Legend, WWII film star and Korean War Vet Bobby Blake from the Red Ryder B Movies. Jim
